NO Sew Fleece Tie Blanket

I have one of these now sew fleece blankets and they are great!! They are so warm and cozy. My husband and I got one for christmas from my sister who personalized it by ironing on our names and the date we got engaged!! It was a great idea!
What you'll need to make a no sew fleece tie blanket:
1-2/3 yds. of print outerwear fleece
1-2/3 yds. of a solid outerwear fleece
Tape measure
-Cut a square of each fabric that measures from 56" to 58" square.
- Place the squares over each other, wrong sides together.
- Cut a 5" square from each corner.
- To cut fringe, lay one piece of fabric on the floor/table, and then fold the 5" to be fringed back.
- Cut fringe 1" wide and 5" deep on all sides.
- Using a overhand knot, tie the front and back fringe together.
Do this all the way around the blanket being careful not to stretch the fabric.
In no time at all you'll have a beautiful no-sew blanket that's warm and attractive.

Creating your own Taggie Blanket

With just having my daughter in July she loves her tag blanket and if for some reason something happens to it I found an easy way to make another one. This project definitely looks easy to make and its also a great idea for someone you know having a baby. I would like to try to make one of these as well but it may not be for awhile but if I do make it I will be sure to post!!

I borrowed this from...http://mamarosie.blogspot.com/

I love projects that are easy, cheap to make, useful and gift worthy. This Taggie Blanket project definitely falls into that category. It's fairly mindless, repetitious and can be done in short spurts of time and put away quickly so the kiddies won't get into your supplies. The babies also LOVE these blankets and they are a perfect size for them to play with. This Taggie blanket is of my own design, and not perfect in exact measurements, but, the results are still very nice. Remember you will get (if you want) 4 blankets out of this project.

Materials Needed for 4- 13" x 16" taggieblankets:
2 yards of flannel or soft blanket material ( I used no-pile flannel) in coordinating colors. One yard will be for the front of the blanket and one yard will be for the back.
5 rolls of 1" wide coordinating satin ribbon- cut into lengths of 4".
Matching thread
straight pins
ruler/measuring tape
scissors
iron and ironing board
Step 1: CUT- Lay both fabrics on top of each other. Imagine dividing the fabric into fours. Cut a line vertically down the middle and then cut horizontally down the middle. You now will have 4 pieces of one color and 4 pieces of the other color.

Step 2: IRON-Take a piece of fabric that you will use for the back of the blanket and iron a 1" hem on all four sides, use pins at the corners to help keep the hem down. Do the same process for a front piece of the blanket. So now you will have a front and back piece with 1" ironed hems all of the way around.

Step 3: TAG-Each Blanket will have 20 tags, 5 tags on each side. To save on time I always cut my tags in advance and separate them out in baggies. To place tags onto the blanket, fold one 4" piece of ribbon into 1/2. Pin the folded ribbon 1" from the corner of the back blanket piece, leave about 1" on the outside of the blanket, this will be the piece the baby plays with. ( Make sure you are pinning onto the wrong side of the fabric-NOT the side that will be facing out) Continue around the edges of the blanket. Space the ribbons about 2" apart.

Step 4: SEW- Now that your ribbons are pinned onto your blanket, it is time to sew the front and back pieces together. Pin the wrong sides of your pieces together and sew about 5/8" in from the edge, make sure your hem and ribbon stays tucked in and remove pins as you sew. I use a zig zag stitch spaced close together, if you want to, you can reinforce the seam by sewing a second time around.

That's it, 4 steps! Very easy and a great gift idea for any baby.

Create your Own CD/DVD Holder

Another great craft idea from www.chicaandjo.com/

This idea is cool and different. If you are looking for a cool way to give out the CD's or DVD's that you make here is a great idea.

I was just telling my husband that maybe for Christmas we can make DVD's for our families of our daughter. This will be a great way to personalize them.

They even have a template already for them on their website. Here are the directions as well as links to get the template from them.

1: Download our free CD/DVD holder template and print it onto paper or card stock. Cut it out.
2: Place the template top of the heavy paper or decorative card stock you want to use for your holder, and trace around it. Then use a pencil and ruler to draw in the fold lines by connecting the points (red lines on the template).

3: Cut around the outer edges (black lines on template). To help with cutting out the semi-circle, you might want to use a round paper punch.
4: Use a ruler and a bone folder or a plastic credit card to fold along the lines indicated on the template (red lines).

5: Apply double-sided tape or a line of glue where indicated on the template (green lines).
6: Hold your taped edges down first and align the large cover piece over top to attach it to the tape.
7: Decorate the holder and label it to create your finished product!
I quickly made up three of these and can’t wait to make even more!

Custom Notepads

Looking to make your own notepad here are easy directions on how to from http://www.chicaandjo.com/

They have a lot of things for sale in their store to help make their projects in our store on their website

Seems like an easy project. I plan on trying this very soon and I will post how easy it was and pictures of how mine came out!

We have had endless fun making custom, personalized notepads and doing various fun projects with it, and are still coming up with new ideas for more. It’s so easy to use, too! Here are the basic instructions:

Take a stack of paper — any color, type, or size you want — and tap it on the table so that one side is as flat as it can be. If you want your notepad to have a sturdy back, add a piece of cardboard, cut to the same size, to the bottom of your stack. Secure the sheets together with a couple of binder clips. (You can also add a sheet of plain white paper on the top and bottom of the stack if you want to protect the notepad from glue drips, as we’ve done here.)

Now take a small brush and apply the padding compound liberally along the edge of the pad. In just a few minutes’ time, it will dry to a smooth and non-sticky finish. If you have a particularly large notepad and would like extra strength, you can also apply a second or third coat of compound.

And just like that, you’ve made your own custom notepad!

The possibilities for these notepads are endless! Here are a few ideas I’ve tried so far:
Make a mat stack for you or for a scrapbooking friend. Simply cut a collection of scrapbook papers a little larger than an average photo print (for example, 4.5″ x 6.5″) and turn them into a pad. You can then tear off a mat one at a time, whenever you want to mat a photo in your scrapbook.

Turn scraps of paper into a cute scratch pad. What’s more fun than cute, printed paper when it comes to the scratch pad on your desk? Just take your otherwise useless scraps and pull them together into a notepad you’ll really enjoy using.

Bundle business cards into a stack. My husband is constantly scattering his business cards all over his truck and bag because they are loose and hard for him to keep together. I took a stack of them and made a notepad out of them and now he has an organized stack that’s easy to carry. His clients are always impressed and delighted when he pulls a card off the pad.

There are many more ideas possible here, from score sheets to grocery lists to personalized stationery. Jo has several fun notepad projects in the works, so keep an eye out for what she comes up with next!

Craft Ideas

I love doing craft and they make great presents. I love looking all over for different ideas. On this blog you will find all this ideas in one. This will be helpful to me so I have it all in one place as well as for you! With the holidays coming up and money is tight something homemade is always a great idea. I also plan on trying all the projects I post here so once I try them I will post what I have made and how easy or hard it was.

I also love to scrapbook. So I love making my own cards and things as well. When I make some cards I will be sure to post different ones that I make and directions on how I make them as well.

I will be borrowing stuff from different sites to make this blog what it is.
